Sundance as always was a huge success, but not just for the films in competition. When I got an offer to rent a screening spot on Main St. in Park City, I jumped at the chance to show my feature documentary, "This African Life." See how I did it, and find out how you can do the same for your film at Cinema Slam Park City 2008. Contact lisaiowa@mac.com

  • Nice work.
  • great work!
  • A great piece and Editing is Marvelous. Light is Properly Controlled
  • There's a wonderful energy about the film. In a short time, the film-maker endears herself and I found myself hoping that the screening would be successful. A couple of responses from those that saw the film would have been nice though. Good work! Look forward to seeing your film in a screen near me.

speaking of self promotion check out my short promo, click our pic then "current creation"
  • Totally fun to watch. Neatly communicates that whole festival excitement leading up to a screening. Well shot and well cut, and I loved the walking billboards, of course.
  • Congrats Lisa and thank you for sharing that experience with us. I went to Sundance in '98 with "2by4", as an actor, exciting stuff, and a lot of work as you know. I'm helping with another movie in production and will propose your assistance. I am featured in a pod called "The Boxer", please take a look. GL from me.
  • great pod. I enjoyed watcing your experience. I recently had a short screened locally and had a very difficult time sitting in the room while others watched.

Doing the same thing at Sundance, must have been nuts. Thanks for this. GL.

  • Wonderful perspective .The media has made sundance all about hollywood. and not about the real story, people who make films. Bravo!

  • Good to see that indie spirit flowing, you went from one screening to 2 because of your efforts and public demand(so to speak) that's great. I went last year to sundance, only for a day, and just seeing park city I was kind of jealous haha.

  • What I love about this is the story within a story ...

To begin, the film itself appears to be a compelling subject ... and then to get an upfront view of your off-Sundance screening experience, it was very enjoyable to watch.

And the jazz added a real nice touch to the way the story unfolded. I was only disappointed that we did not get to see more of how the crowds responded at the back-to-back screenings ... but I imagine you didn't have the luxury to film everything while making sure everything went smoothly during and just after the screenings.

And one last final comment ... I have a tremendous respect for that fact that you want to "spread the love" for other film makers!

Your pod reflects everything current TV is about.

... a GL doubleshot coming your way!

  • adorable! it really shows you that perceverance is as important as talent. Lisa, had two choices: stay home and talk about a film she did, or go big and take it to Sundance against all the big boys and in doing so look at what's happening. Way to go Lisa!
  • nice story where can i get a copy of the film it was talked up so much i wonna see it now
